Promoting Industry-University Collaboration in the field of Telecommunications
Panel conference “Promoting Industry-University Collaboration in the field of Telecommunications” organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo on June 12, 2019 gathered lecturers from the industrial and academic sector from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region with the aim of presenting, identifying and defining ways to strengthen industrial-university cooperation in the field of telecommunications.
The gathering was opened by prof. dr. Aida Hodžić, Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Student Affairs at the University of Sarajevo, emphasizing that gatherings, exchange of experiences, precise cooperation and joint action of the industrial and academic sector is one of the strategic objectives of the University of Sarajevo for the improvement of both higher education and the labor market, especially locally.
The aim of the conference was to present the call of engineers to future students as more attractive and interesting, as it became deficient, stressed prof. dr. Miralem Mehić from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UNSA.
He also pointed out that the conference was organized within Erasmus+ project “Strengthening the profile of telecommunications engineers to meet the needs of modern society and industry” (BENEFIT) funded by the European Union, and that the participation of the conference was taken by representatives of telecom operators and Faculties of Electrical Engineering in the Balkan region to discuss improving the situation in telecommunications as an industry.
“Our goal is to specifically discuss the curricula and teaching plans that we will adapt to market needs in the future,” stressed Professor Mehic, adding that within the project they organized a study program for telecommunications research.
