Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth prof.dr Husic-Mehmedovic and Rector prof.dr Skrijelj visited the Department of Telecommunications

On February 24, 2021, the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton, prof.dr Melika Husic-Mehmedovic, and the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, prof.dr Rifat Skrijelj visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. During the visit to the Department of Telecommunications, a laboratory for software-defined networks with installed 5G stand-allone network infrastructure and a newly formed TELEMACH laboratory were presented.

As part of scientific research activities, the project “Quantum Cybersecurity in 5G Networks ” (QUANTUM5) was presented, which is funded under the NATO SPS program (Science for Peace and Security). Head of the research team in front of the University of Sarajevo doc.dr. Miralem Mehic emphasized that this is the first research project in the field of 5G and quantum cryptography in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is of great importance for the University to acquire advanced knowledge and scientific experience. The project provides an opportunity for young researchers to participate in cutting-edge international research activities.
